Three cheers to 2018! Now that we’ve started with a clean slate, it’s time to start mapping out our plans for the New Year. Pittsburgh promises an abundance of events, activities, and festivals throughout the year. In fact, here are seven of the best festivals in Pittsburgh you simply can’t miss this year.
Disclaimer: Some of the following festivals might not fall under weird and wacky, but they’re definitely really awesome.
Mmm..mmm...sit down to a scrumptious pancake breakfast at the 41st Annual Maple Syrup Festival. Top your pancakes with syrup made in Brady’s Run Park. The daylong festival features plenty to do, including pony rides, Civil War reenactments, and live entertainment. The Maple Syrup Festival is set for April 7, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Bradys Run Park Lodge in Beaver Falls.
Catch up on your sleep in March because April means Lawrenceville’s Art All Night. Although the specific date has not yet been announced, the 21st annual event runs from Saturday at 4 p.m. to Sunday at 2 p.m. Artists are welcome to submit their work into the competition. Visitors will find plenty to do, including children’s activities.

Get ready, pickle lovers! Pittsburgh transforms into Picklesburgh for two glorious days every July. (Dates for 2018 have not yet been announced.) The festival offers plenty of pickle-related products – ice cream, chips, and, of course, traditional pickles themselves. Pickle juice lovers can also sign up for a pickle juice drinking contest.
