Pumpkin spice and other popular scents fill stores and homes. The chilled air provides the perfect atmosphere for PIttsburghers to get outside and enjoy the new season. Here are eight picture perfect fall day trips to take around Pittsburgh.
Embrace the rustic beauty of a Pennsylvania fall. Board one of the fall foliage train rides offered by the Oil Creek & Titusville Railroad. The three hour excursion allows riders to go to the open air gondola to feel the fresh fall air and get another view of the foliage. Fall foliage tours are set for October 1-22, 2017. Trains run Wednesday through Sunday, departing at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Saturday and Sunday trains leave Perry Station at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Spend the afternoon viewing the fall foliage from the top of Mount Washington then hop aboard Molly’s Trolleys’ Terror Trolley. Be prepared for chills as you uncover some of the area’s most haunted places. The Terror Trolley runs at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays in October.

Kick back and relax as you cruise down the three rivers this fall. The Gateway Clipper Fleet’s fall foliage cruise promises spectacular views, music, dancing, games, and a delicious lunch buffet. The four hour cruise is set for October 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21.

Climb aboard a hay ride to Triple B Farms’ pumpkin patch, where you can pick your own pumpkins. Triple B features a full menu of fun fall activities – hay rides, a corn maze, pumpkin picking, visiting the farm animals, and rubber ducky races. Triple B Farms annual Fall Festival kicks off on September 16 and runs through Halloween weekend.
