Summer Is Almost Over – Here’s Your Pittsburgh Bucket List For The Rest Of The Season
Can you believe that summer’s almost over? Already? Soon, we’ll usher in fall and with it cool evenings, changing leaves, and pumpkin picking. But, before we bid a fond farewell to the summer, let’s take a look at the good ole summer bucket list. After all, we’ve still got time to make the most of every remaining minute of these sun-kissed days, right?

Feel the cool mist of a waterfall at Ohiopyle State Park. Walk behind the breathtaking Cucumber Falls. Good news, too! You just have to walk down stairs to reach the base of the waterfall. And, as a bonus, you'll only be a mile from the spectacular Ohiopyle Falls, which features easy-to-reach viewing areas.

We'll have plenty of time to watch the latest flicks indoors soon enough. So, for now, spend an evening in the park, watching a popular movie (that you've probably already seen). Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy hosts Cinema in the Park in several area parks, including Highland Park and Schenley Plaza. And, keep a look out in local neighborhoods too, like Plum and Delmont, which also host movie nights throughout the summer.

Summer just wouldn't be summer, would it, without a visit to Kennywood. Of course, if you're at Kennywood, you can't pass up Potato Patch fries, funnel cakes, and all those goodies. And, you'll definitely want to stay cool on the Raging Rapids or the Pittsburgh Plunge.

Again, we'll have plenty of time to spend indoors soon enough. For now, we probably want to spend as much time outdoors as we can. So, dine along the river. Numerous local restaurants, including Red Fin Blues and Rivertowne North Shore, also offer sweeping river views from their outdoor seating areas.

Can you think of a better place to spend time during the summer than on the water? Pittsburgh offers plenty to do on the water. Spend an afternoon kayaking with Kayak Pittsburgh. Rent a pontoon boat with Boat Pittsburgh. Or, kick back and relax on a Cruisin' Tikis Pittsburgh cruise.

Rediscover just how beautiful Pittsburgh is, especially in the summer, aboard a sightseeing cruise on the Gateway Clipper Fleet. Or, embark on one of their themed-cruises, such as the Sunset Dinner Cruise, the Sunday Brunch Cruise, or the Weird Science Cruise.

Let's go Bucs! Spend a warm summer evening cheering on the Buccos at PNC Park. And, even if you're not a baseball fan, you'll find plenty to enjoy at the stadium - from the delicious food to the spectacular views of the Pittsburgh skyline from the River Walk.

Stay cool all summer long at PPG Place. That's right. Jump in the water fountain as it juts up in the air then tumbles back down. The fun water feature welcomes guests to cool off between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Just be sure to wear your street clothes. And, keep your shoes on.

Summer can be so fast-paced for so many of us. Sometimes, we just need to slow down the pace. Pittsburgh Botanic Garden offers plenty of quiet trails to explore. Stroll through Bookworm Glen. Tiptoe on stepping stones over a picturesque pond. Or, sit on a bench to reflect on the beauty around you.
