We all need a bit of quirkiness in our lives, especially to keep things from becoming monotonous. Dining out is one of the best ways to just relax and to add a spark to an ordinary day. This quirky eatery in Pittsburgh promises a really unique setting – you won’t find another like it in the city – and a taste-tantalizing menu.
Memories of the past are just about everywhere you look at Double Wide Grill, a quirky restaurant in the South Side that once housed a Texaco Gas Station.
Before you even walk through the front door, you'll pass once-busy gas pumps, now overlooking tables that provide a perfect outdoor seating area during the warmer months.
The theme continues indoors with a car suspended from the ceiling, licenses plates from all over the U.S. lining the walls, and hub cabs on the ceiling. You can even grab a seat, if it's free, on the couch, where you can eat and watch TV.
Wherever you sit, you'll likely be within eyesight of one of the TVs, with the station tuned to the latest sporting event. Flip open the menu that appeals to carnivores, vegetarians, and vegans.
You can't go wrong with a wood-grilled burger either. Try such tasty options as Billy Bob's BBQ, the Hawaiian Surf, or the Breakfast burger. (The Beyond Burger's on the menu for vegans and vegetarians.)
Sink your teeth into a scrumptious sandwich at this quirky eatery, open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. Or, stop by Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. or Sunday from 10 a.m. to 12 a.m.
