Most of us who have lived in Pittsburgh for any amount of time has probably seen all of the most well-known spots, like PNC Park and Heinz Field, from a variety of angles – from right inside the stadiums to sailing past on the Gateway Clipper Fleet. For the most unique views of – and a one-of-a-kind experience in – the City of Champions, reserve a helicopter tour in Pittsburgh.
See a whole new side of Pittsburgh aboard a helicopter piloted by Pittsburgh Heli, which runs out of the Allegheny County Airport.
The helicopter tour company offers several tours, including the brief but unforgettable Runway Tour and the Night Flight, a 10-minute ride over the city as it shimmers against the nighttime sky.
If you’re a tried and true fan of the black and gold, however, you’ll definitely want to opt for the approximately 20-minute City of Champions Tour. Bring your camera along to snap aerial photos of PNC Park, Heinz Field, and Highmark Stadium.
You can book your tour online, but before you do, make sure you know what to expect. The helicopter seats two adults and one child. Seats have a limit of 250 pounds.
On the day of your flight, make sure you arrive at Allegheny County Airport at least 20 minutes in advance of takeoff. Pre-flight activities will include a safety briefing, so you know what to expect on your adventure.
If you’ve booked the City of Champions flight, expect to be in the air for 20 minutes. When you return to the airport, you’ll probably have another 10 minutes before you leave.
