Summer’s certainly had a bunch of surprises for us, especially with the pandemic, hasn’t it? Some of those surprises have been pretty amazing though – like the family-friendly and date night drive-in movies in Allegheny County. (They’re free, too!) Another fun drive-in experience is coming – Carrie Carpool Cinema in Pittsburgh.
Carrie Furnaces in Pittsburgh is transforming into Carrie Carpool Cinema one weekend a month through November.
Moviegoers can watch a double feature from the comfort of their cars. The first weekend, held in July, has already passed, so you’ll have to act quickly if you want to catch the August double-feature.
Admission for the double feature costs $10 for adults and $7 for children. Two dollars of each ticket benefits the preservation of Carrie Blast Furnaces National Historic Landmark.
While movie titles for August through November have yet to be announced, the themes are already out there. August, for example, is 80’s family weekend.
All movies will begin at sunset, and you can even join a mini tour of the historic landmark before the first movie starts. (You’ll have to pay a separate fee for the tour.)
Bring along goodies for your evening of fun. Don’t forget to check out the delicious assortment of foods, including finger-licking good barbecue, from Oven Catering and Rouge BBQ.
