Just as Pittsburgh plunges into a heat wave, we, Pittsburghers, are also planning our Fourth of July celebrations. Some of us have long-held traditions that we follow each year without fail. And, others like to do something new each year. Whatever your plans during the day, cap off your Fourth of July with one of these epic fireworks displays in Pittsburgh at night.
Pittsburgh’s epic Fourth of July festivities – Celebrate America – kick off at noon on July 4, 2018. Spend the day visiting the food vendors, listening to live entertainment, and taking the kids to visit the activity-packed Kids Zone. The day culminates with one of the area's most epic fireworks displays, set to begin at 9:30 p.m.
Don’t want to miss downtown Pittsburgh’s fireworks or your neighborhood fireworks on the Fourth? No worries. Kennywood celebrates Independence Day with a spectacular fireworks display each night from June 30 through the Fourth of July. Of course, if you visit on the Fourth, you can cheer on the contestants of the Weiner Dog Races and the hot dog eating contest.
Can you think of a better way to spend the Fourth of July than at Idlewild & SoakZone? Beat the scorching temps of the day by frolicking in the water at SoakZone before drying off on the rides in the park. Then, of course, get ready for the highlight of the day’s events. The fireworks display will start at 9:30 p.m.
The Big Butler Fairgrounds hosts the Big Butler Fair every July. This year’s spectacular event runs through July 7, 2018. Explore the fairgrounds, where you’ll find numerous exhibitions, carnival rides, and plenty of concessions. The fireworks show blasts off at dusk on the Fourth of July.
Head to the mountains and Nemacolin Resort for an unforgettable Fourth. Spend the day at the Sundial Lodge, where you’ll find a plethora of kid and family-friendly activities. Stay hydrated (and full!) by visiting the food booths, the bar, and the indoor eatery offering a la carte items. Fireworks blast off at 9:30 p.m.
Watch the epic downtown fireworks display from the North Shore’s Heinz Field. But, first spend the day celebrating America’s Independence with a host of fun activities, including live entertainment by Michael Ray, Tim Litvin, and the Stickers. Admission is free. The day will also feature plenty of delicious food and family-friendly activities.
