Take a bow, Pittsburgh! Pittsburghers have earned recognition as some of the best drivers in the nation. Pittsburgh ranks 20 in the top 35 best driving cities in the country. Philadelphia and Allentown were the only two other Pennsylvania cities considered in the study, according to Quote Wizard.
In the fall of 2019, Quote Wizard released its list of the best and the worst driving cities in the United States. The study took into account the 75 largest cities in the country, which included Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Allentown.
An insurance comparison website, Quote Wizard studied millions of insurance quotes, looking at four main types of incidents – accidents, citations, DUIs, (Driving Under the Influence), and speeding tickets.
Those 40 cities with the highest incident rates fell into the worst driving cities in the nation while the remaining 35 – with the lowest incidents – were named the best cities for driving.
Portland, Oregon, topped the list of the worst driving cities in the United States. Boise, Idaho; Virginia Beach, Virginia; Columbus, Ohio; and Sacramento, California, rounded out the top five worst drivers.
Detroit, Michigan earned props as the best driving city. The top five rounded out with Louisville, Kentucky; Chicago, Illinois; Miami, Florida; and Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The other two Pennsylvania cities that made the cut for the survey were Philadelphia and Allentown. Philadelphia ranked 16 while Allentown came in at 31 in the best drivers category.
