We, Pittsburghers, know a thing or two about spectacular overlooks. After all, we live in a city that undoubtedly boasts one of the most breathtaking skylines in the U.S., if not the world. But, sometimes, we want to journey out into the country to admire the views, both during the drive and once we arrive at our destination. For spellbinding views and a little bit of venture, you’ll definitely want to visit this magnificent overlook near Pittsburgh.
Turn up the music and enjoy the 70-mile drive, from downtown Pittsburgh, to Baughman Rock Overlook, just above Ohiopyle State Park.
If you'd prefer to just drink in the views from the overlook, park in the parking lot on Sugarloaf Road. A few steps later and voila! You've reached your destination.
Or, embark on the Baughman Trail, a nearly five mile trail, that will show off Baughman Rock Overlook about halfway through. Then, follow the Sugar Loaf Trail to bring you back to the parking lot.
Regardless of how you get there, you'll be treated to sensational sweeping views once you arrive at Baughman Rock Overlook. However, be careful as you venture near the rocks, which have steep drops.
