Charles and Beatrice Convery started the business in 1935, in an itty-bitty shack on Route 420 in Springfield. They were dedicated to making quality food and keeping prices low. In 1986, Charlie sold the business to his longtime employee, Bernard. Bernard passed the business down to his son Steve, who still runs it to this day.
Everything is simple here - you can get a hamburger or a cheeseburger, a couple of toppings, and a couple of condiments.

The menu includes hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, grilled cheese, milkshakes, coffee, tea, and soda. You won't find fries here, but you can get a small bag of chips.

These burgers are mouth-wateringly good. They're juicy, cheesy, fresh, and leagues better than the fast-food burgers we've all gotten used to.
Of course, you can also find a handmade milkshake here, in any of the classic flavors.

Charlie's is closed on Thursdays.
