I don’t know about you, but I’m finally beginning to grow tired of this summer. Relentless heat, day after day. Just in case you’re running out of creative ways to beat the heat… Here are some fun ideas for things to do in Pennsylvania on a sweltering day.
1. Cool off at Dutch Springs in Bethlehem.
The best waterpark in Pennsylvania is also the most unique. Dutch Springs is not a traditional water park with slides and wading pools, but a lake full of truly one-of-a-kind attractions. The Aqua Park boasts a collection of huge inflatables that you can climb, jump off of, slide down, and bounce on. If you're a scuba diver, you can explore submerged airplanes, school buses, and other obstacles.
2. Have a wild time Wildwater Kingdom in Allentown.
Wildwater Kingdom is part of Dorney Park, which is really cool if you like both water parks and roller coasters.
3. Relax on the beach at Presque Isle Park in Erie.
Presque Isle State Park, along Lake Erie, has not one, but 11 beautiful beaches for you to enjoy.
4. Catch a ride at Kennywood Park in West Mifflin.
Kennywood is a popular amusement park in the Pittsburgh area. It has plenty of water rides; if you want to only enjoy water rides, check out the nearby Sandcastle Park.
5. Enjoy the Shore at Hershey Park.
Hershey is one of Pennsylvania's biggest attractions for its chocolate factory and amusement park. It also has some amazing warm weather areas.
6. Slide down the Meadow Run Natural Waterslide in Ohiopyle.
Nonstop thrills at this unique water attraction in the gorgeous state park are sure to make your day.
7. Jump off the rocks at Ricketts Glen.
If you like thrills, then this is perfect for you. Ricketts Glen is known for its waterfalls, so be sure not to get too brave.
8. Wade in the cool shallows of Clear Creek State Park.
More serene than Ricketts glen, the waters in Clear Creek State Park are cold and refreshing like none other.
9. Go swimming in one of our many pools.
Maybe you don't like the unpredictability and lack of chlorine in natural bodies of water. Well then, lucky for you, Pennsylvania has plenty of public pools. Check your local goverment's website for info.
10. If you still can't take the heat, just go to the movies or something.
Yeah, the great outdoors isn't for everyone. Worst case scenario, just wait out the heat in the dark, cold embrace of a movie theater or shopping mall. I'll let you know when it's September and safe to come out.
