Longwood Gardens is, without a doubt, the premiere garden destination in Pennsylvania. With over 1,077 acres to explore, there might be too many roses for you to stop and smell them all.

2. Rose Gardens, Allentown

The Rose Gardens in Allentown have been a landmark of the city for as long as anyone can remember. Nestled in Cedar Creek Park, they offer a scenic place for pictures or relaxation.

3. Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, Pittsburgh

5. Arboretum of the Barnes Foundation, Merion

You must make a reservation and pay a fee before entering the gardens at the Barnes Foundation Arboretum. They contain thousands of species and has been existent since the 1880s.

6. Chanticleer Garden, Wayne

Chanticleer Garden was added to the national register of historic places in 1984. It has a wonderful enchanted garden vibe that we fell in love with the first time we entered.

7. Lake Erie Arboretum

Lake Erie Arboretum is a free arboretum located in Frontier Park in Erie. It has a variety of different trees and plants.

8. Rodef Shalom Biblical Botanical Garden, Pittsburgh

The Rodef Shalom Biblical Botanical Garden is on the same grounds as Rodef Shalom Temple, which houses Western Pennsylvania's oldest Jewish congregation.

Where are the best gardens near me in Pennsylvania?
There are lots of beautiful gardens near you in Pennsylvania, both perfectly manicured gardens and wild fields of flowers along a quiet country road. Here are a few of our favorite gardens in Pennsylvania that we think you'll enjoy too:

  • Goodell Gardens & Homestead, Edinboro, PA: Go for a beautiful guided walk on a Sunday afternoon in the enchanting Goodell Gardens. You'll enjoy 78 acres of expertly cultivated flowers, trees, bushes, herbs, and more. You don't have to wait for a Sunday tour either, you can simply wander to your heart's content. After you spend time in the garden, swing by the Garden's library where you can check out one of more than 300 gardening books.
  • Stoneleigh Natural Garden, Villanova, PA: This fairy-tale garden is a smaller hidden gem than some of the more robust botanical gardens in PA. That doesn't mean it is any less wonderful. You'll still be able to immerse yourself in more than 40,000 plants, trees, and flowers. The Haas family Tudor Mansion is also open for tours and guided programs. One of our favorite features of the garden is the giant wooden carving of a family of rabbits sitting pad watch over the estate - or maybe eagerly looking forward to nibbling on a few choice delectables.
  • Bartram's Garden, Philadelphia, PA: This beautiful area has been designated the oldest surviving botanical garden in America. This enchanting estate has been lush with spring flowers, stately trees, and gorgeous fall foliage since 1728. The Bartram House and Garden became a National Historic Landmark in 1963. If you spend some time in the garden, keep an eye out for wild turkeys, singing songbirds, and delicate ladybugs, among other lovely garden visitors.
