Charm defines the old-fashioned, mom and pop shops that remain in cities, towns, and villages across PA. Mom and pop shops often offer a personalized, friendly experience that may not be found at the big box retailers. We get to know the owners, enjoy leisurely chats, and shop in a quaint, comfortable setting. This supermarket – perhaps the oldest grocery store in Pennsylvania – promises an old-fashioned shopping experience right in the heart of Philadelphia.
Nestled in the Fairmount section of Philadelphia, Klein's Supermarket has been a favorite shop for generations of Pennsylvanians.
Shortly after immigrating to America from Russia in 1892, Simon Klein learned that his younger brother ran a corner supermarket in Philadelphia. The elder Klein then took over the management of Klein's Supermarket.
The longstanding grocery store still maintains that old-fashioned charm of more than a century ago. Klein family members are always ready with a welcoming smile. And, the store often opens when other shops normally close. (Check out the picture below.)
