We all have our favorite go-to places – restaurants, shops, and even parks. But sometimes we feel like following the road less traveled and, when we do, we discover some pretty amazing gems. Like this off-the-beaten-path park in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Go on a scenic hike; have a leisurely picnic, or snap photos of the resident wildlife. This Pennsylvania park is the perfect place to get away from it all.
Sometimes going off the beaten path pays off in big ways, and that's certainly the case when you venture to Stackhouse Park, a 277-acre natural wonder in Johnstown.
The best way to appreciate the natural beauty of Stackhouse Park is on one of its hiking trails. Choose from one of the trails that meander through the woods, up log stairs, and over fairy-tale footbridges.
For the most accessible experience, follow the Luzerne Path. The tree-lined path, the park's widest trail, is called "the main road." It's ideal for a leisurely stroll.
When you need a break, drop onto one of the benches in the park. Snap a photo of the turquoise bench, too, that was made from disposable snack wrappers.
