Those of us who are night owls know very little compares to those quiet hours between sunset and sunrise when the moon shines and the stars twinkle. Nighttime promises an idyllic and unique backdrop for outdoor adventures, from guided hikes to leisurely floats. Next time adventure comes calling, answer by booking a spot on this nighttime river float in Wormleysburg, Pennsylvania.
The evening holds so much promise as the sun falls asleep; the crickets begin to chirp, and most people head indoors to wind down their day. For some, though, nighttime is all about adventure.
For one glorious evening a month, you can slip your kayak into the river for a float under the moonlight. Susquehanna Outfitters in Wormleysburg hosts a Full Moon Float on the Susquehanna River on a select evening each month from May through October.
In addition to every day floats that run between one and six hours, Susquehanna Outfitters also offers several special event floats, including Wednesday Night Workouts, Brewery Floats, and Birding Floats.

Your adventure begins at Susquehanna Outfitters, where you'll join others for your three-hour guided moonlight tour. Before you set off, decide how you want to float.
Bring your own boat, or rent a canoe, a kayak, or a tandem kayak. Your tour fee includes a shuttle ride, a lifejacket, a paddle, a headlamp, glowsticks, and snacks.
Dogs are permitted, for a nominal fee, if you rent a tandem kayak.
If you're a fan of fireworks, block off July 4 and September 4, 2024, for the Fireworks Floats. The Fourth of July float runs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. while the September 4 float, which celebrates the Kipona Festival, goes from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
