Family-Friendly Event In Penfield, Pennsylvania

Spring’s shaping up to be an epic one here in Pennsylvania. The highlight will undeniably be the total solar eclipse that will be visible in several Pennsylvania cities, including Erie and Edinboro, an event that won’t occur again for two decades. But there’s plenty more to look forward to in the weeks leading up to that epic celestial event – like this family-friendly maple sugaring program in Penfield, Pennsylvania. Add it to your calendar for a bit of springtime fun.

Glean insight into the maple sugaring process by signing up for the Maple Sugaring Program, on Saturdays and Sundays throughout March, at Parker Dam State Park.

The family-friendly program will begin at 2 p.m. at the Sugar Shack and will cover a variety of topics, including the history of maple sugaring, how the process has changed throughout time, and how companies mass produce maple syrup.

If you’re interested in making your own maple syrup, you’ll learn all about the process, from how to identify and tap maple trees to how to create maple syrup from maple sap.

At the end of the program, you’ll have the chance to taste some of the pure maple syrup.

Parker Dam State Park hosts events throughout the year and will also hold a program to help Pennsylvanians gear up for the solar eclipse. Be Prepared For The Solar Eclipse will be held on select weekend days in March.
