Journey back in time when you visit the oldest general store in Pennsylvania, a cozy spot in Lumberville where community members and visitors gather for good conversation, great food, and locally made products. Let’s begin our virtual tour of the Lumberville General Store.
The Lumberville General Store, dating back to 1770, boasts a storied history. Early in its history, the quaint general store was run by Colonel George Wall, Jr., a Revolutionary War hero.
In the early 1800s, the general store also served as the Lumberville Post Office. Throughout the years, ownership changed hands but the Lumberville General Store always remained a family owned business.
Today, the Lumberville General Store, which reopened in the spring of 2016 after a year of renovations, is owned by Jack Thompson, a local businessman who also owns the historic Lumberville Black Bass Hotel.
The Lumberville General Store welcomes guests for lunch daily from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and features daily specials. Cap off your meal with homemade ice cream, croissants, muffins, or cinnamon rolls. Take out dinners are also available.
The charming general store regularly hosts such events as the Supper Club. Diners enjoy a four course meal, including a starter, an appetizer, an entree, and dessert.
