Summer’s so sweet. From cotton candy and snow cones to butter melting on corn on the cob, there’s probably no sweeter season. We can all probably agree that we eat pretty well during the golden season. Celebrate one of the sweetest foods of the summer at this family-friendly, corn-themed festival in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania.
Shippensburg leaps alive the last Saturday of every August with the fun-filled Shippensburg Corn Festival, an epic one-day event that got its start more than four decades ago.
This year, the corn-themed festival is set for Aug. 26, 2023, when it will celebrate its 42nd year. The festivities will take place, rain or shine, in Downtown Shippensburg from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A free family-friendly event, the annual festival promises plenty of good food, including corn on the cob. More than 250 food and craft vendors are slated to be on hand for the daylong festival.
Bring a hearty appetite to the festival that will feature vendors selling such favorites as fries, BBQ, burgers, funnel cakes, and fresh-squeezed lemonade. Save room for a funnel cake, too.
Spend some time exploring the many craft vendor booths, where you can pick up everything from pottery and soaps to pet products and jewelry. You never know what gems you’ll uncover.
If you’re a fan of cars, check out the CornFest Cruz-In at the Shippensburg First Church of God from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Corny, the festival mascot, will choose and crown “Corny’s Favorite Ride.” The winner will receive a trophy.
