Remember the days when we could just walk through the gates of our local amusement park, buy a few tickets if we wanted to ride, or just stroll around the park enjoying the sights and the sounds? Today, we have to pay pretty hefty admission prices at the majority of modern amusement parks. However, Knoebels in Pennsylvania sets itself apart as the largest free-admission amusement park in the United States.
Enjoy a rush of nostalgia when you stroll through the front gates at Knoebels Amusement Resort, in Elysburg, the largest free-admission amusement park in the country.
Those who want to ride all day long might want to opt for one of the all day passes. If you just want to ride a few rides, you can purchase a book of tickets instead.
The classic amusement park also boasts an eclectic collection of rides - from the mild to the thrilling. Those who prefer calmer rides can climb aboard the Merry-Go-Round, the train, or the Scenic Skyway.
Prefer rides that make your heart sink? Climb aboard the Fandango, the Impulse, or the Phoenix roller coaster. Knoebels also offers a play area, a carousel museum, and a bald eagle habitat - all free.
The kiddos will also find rides just for them - the Sky Slide, the Jet Skyfighter, and the Helicopters, for example. Check out the pool and slides, too, on hot summer days.
You can also bring your own picnic, or stop by the food court, where you'll find all of the amusement park favorites, including nachos and funnel cakes. Knoebels also offers several sit down eateries.
