Chasing waterfalls in Pennsylvania is oh-so-easy. After all, there are several hundred – both well-known and well-loved like Raymondskill Falls and hidden, unnamed – cascades all over Pennsylvania. Unless you’re from the area, you may not have heard of this hidden gem waterfall in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, that sits along a scenic trail.
Earmark at least an hour for your journey to Turtle Falls, which sits along the 2.2-mile Pathway to the Falls Trail, also called the Blue Trail, part of the Lorain/Stonycreek Hiking Trails in Johnstown.
If you're looking for a quiet retreat in nature, you've found the right trail. The Blue Trail is typically quiet, and you probably won't run into too many, if any, other hikers.
Read over the rules of the trail and, if you're worried about getting lost, there's a sign with the QR codes for the All Trails map. You might want to download it just in case.
Before you set off, make sure you're up for the challenge. The trail has snagged a moderate rating, mostly because of the rocky terrain and the inclines.
Thinking of bringing the kiddos along? Some hikers assert, that despite its challenges, the Blue Trail is also kid-friendly while others advise against bringing toddlers.
