These 9 Haunted Universities In Pennsylvania Will Terrify You
Pennsylvania’s storied history makes it the perfect breeding ground for tales of the paranormal. In fact, you probably can’t travel too far from home without ending up somewhere that’s got a haunted story to tell. The following nine haunted universities in Pennsylvania, for example, may just send chills slithering down your spine.

Penn State lays claim to several ghostly tales, including one set in Schwab Auditorium, a 900-seat theater. Just who is haunting the auditorium is up for debate but many seem to agree it is the spirit of industrialist Charles Schwab, the man who funded the auditorium. Visitors claim to hear footsteps from above when no one's there and to see objects spontaneously moving from place to place.

Point Park University's Lawrence Hall (dorms) has been haunted, at least if you ask students, for decades by the Shuffler of Lawrence Hall. The spirit, while more of a nuisance than anything, will make objects move spontaneously, turn the fans on and off, and knock on the door in the middle of the night, forcing the dorm residents to get up to discover no one there. Some students also tell of hearing objects crashing in their bathroom then finding everything in place.

You may have already heard the famous haunted tale of Gettysburg College. Two college employees, who worked on the fourth floor of Pennsylvania Hall, stayed late one evening in the 1980s. Pennsylvania Hall was once the site of a hospital during the Civil War's Battle of Gettysburg. The two employees, heading out for the day, entered the elevator. Despite having pushed the button for the first floor, the elevator continued down to the basement. When the doors open, they revealed a horrific scene of carnage as doctors struggled to save Civil War soldiers. The employees summoned a security guard who went down to the basement and found - nothing.

Chatham University's ghost stories are so famous the school offers ghost tours. Prior to becoming a popular Pittsburgh university, the grounds housed a mental institution. Despite the changeover to a university, a female mental patient - commonly referred to as the Blue Lady of Woodlawn Hall - remained behind. Her apparition is often seen sitting on the edge of students' beds in the early morning. Students identify her by the way her blue dress glows.

Cedar Crest College's resident ghost, Wanda, roams the halls of Butz Hall. Wanda is said to be a former student who committed suicide in the hall back in the 1950s. Students and others tell of seeing Wanda wander through Butz Hall. Wanda, pregnant when she hanged herself, sometimes appears as a little girl.

Moravian College, the state's sixth oldest college, dates back to the 1700s, though it was used as a hospital and girls seminary in the 1800s. Tales of the paranormal are commonplace at Moravian College. One such tale takes place in Brethren's House, once an army hospital where more than 100 soldiers died. Those who visit Brethren's House today tell of seeing the apparition of a nurse who wanders the halls.

Students and administrators at Bucks County Community College tell of seeing the apparition of a woman, Stella Tyler, roaming Tyler Hall.

Legend has it that a male student hanged himself in Delaware Valley University's dorms. That student's spirit remains to this day, wandering the halls and spontaneously moving objects.

You'll have plenty of paranormal sites to explore if you visit Seton Hill University, which is rife with ghost stories. St. Joseph's Chapel, for example, is said to house several spirits, including a nun and a female student who committed suicide by flinging herself from the bell tower. Visitors to the chapel often tell stories of hearing a chorus of voices even though the chapel is otherwise empty.
