Pennsylvania’s rich history means one thing: Tales are the paranormal emanate from just about every corner of the state. Gettysburg earns recognition from many as one of the most – if not the most – haunted towns in the United States. However, one of the most haunted sites in the United States is Fort Mifflin in Pennsylvania. If you want to experience the paranormal, you have a pretty good chance here.
Countless visitors descend upon Fort Mifflin, a key player in the Revolutionary War, during the day to learn about its rich history. However, that focus shifts in the evening hours, when the attention turns to the paranormal.
Fort Mifflin also had a role in the Civil War, World War I, and World War II.
Known as the “fort that saved America,” Fort Mifflin played a significant role during the Revolutionary War. American soldiers held the British at bay, which allowed George Washington and his troops to set up their winter headquarters at Valley Forge.
All that history makes it natural that tales of the paranormal consistently stream out of Fort Mifflin – from both those who work there, including tour guides, and visitors.
Numerous visitors tell of an unknown tour guide, for example, dressed in Revolutionary War garb. He chats with the visitors but then simply disappears.
Listen carefully, if you visit, because you might hear children playing, women screaming, and other strange noises. Don’t be surprised if you feel and see the apparition of a dog rush by either.
Fort Mifflin makes it easy for visitors to potentially experience the paranormal, hosting private paranormal investigations and open paranormal investigation evenings.
