As children, many of us read or listened to fairy tales that took us to faraway lands, often filled with vibrant shades of green, magnificent creatures, and magical moments. Now, as adults, we can feel as though we’ve stepped right onto the pages of those old-fashioned, much-loved fairy tales simply by exploring some of our state’s most breathtaking natural areas – like this forest in Pennsylvania.
Create your own fairy tale when you visit the massive Tioga State Forest, spanning more than 160,000 acres in Bradford and Tioga Counties. If you're looking for solitude, you'll definitely find it here.
Even if you've never been to Tioga State Forest, you've likely heard of its most majestic natural wonder: Pine Creek Gorge, better known as the Grand Canyon of PA.
If you like exploring alongside other adventurers, you'll find plenty of them hiking along Turkey Path. It leads from the top of Pine Creek Gorge to the bottom of the canyon and back.

The expansive forest offers something for everyone - whether you prefer adventure or just want to kick back, relax, and go fishing.
However, hiking's not the only way to explore. Horseback riding, mountain biking, and biking are all popular activities. For a unique way to view the landscape, go kayaking, boating, or canoeing.
If you prefer a scenic drive, follow Cedar Mountain Road or Cushman Road; both lead to scenic vistas that offer sweeping views of the surrounding landscape.
Don't limit yourself to visiting during the warmer months. Fresh snowfall means snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. The trails also take on a magical aura when blanketed in a fresh coat of snow.
