A day chasing waterfalls is always time well spent. After all, little can compare to the simple beauty of a waterfall. We have hundreds of waterfalls in Pennsylvania, which means a few might inadvertently be overlooked. This hike in Pennsylvania leads to a dreamy waterfall that is sure to take your breath away, no matter the season.
Be prepared for a bit of a challenge when you set off on the 6.7-mile Sand Run Falls Trail that meanders through Tioga State Forest in Wellsboro.
Those who have hiked this picturesque path recommend going counterclockwise to make it a bit easier. However, this is one trail that pretty much demands sturdy shoes.
The trail can get really rocky, and you must be careful of roots jutting from the ground. Some areas may flood. If you're going after it's rained, wear waterproof shoes or, if you have them, boots.
While you'll probably deal with some bugs, you'll likely also run into local wildlife - from deer prancing in the grass to salamanders scurrying across the ground.
