It doesn’t get much better than spending time outdoors, especially when we’re with our family. We can swim at the beaches or hike at one of PA’s many state parks. Picnic at our favorite neighborhood park. We can also load the bikes and trikes in the car and go for a leisurely ride along this bike-friendly path in Pennsylvania that’s bursting with natural beauty.
Bring the whole family for a leisurely ride along the predominately flat, picturesque Buffalo Valley Rail Trail, a popular trail with hikers, walkers, and bikers.
Even the little ones will find it easy to maneuver their tricycles on the flat terrain. You will bike along both gravel and cement, although you won't have to worry about hills or steep inclines.
Stretching from Lewisburg to Mifflinburg, the 9.5-mile trail features such breathtaking scenery as sprawling farms and rolling fields. It's an ideal path all year round, too.
As you trek along the rail trail, you'll follow what was once a railroad route that got its start before the Civil War and stopped running in the early 1980s.
Run by Union County, the Buffalo Valley Rail Trail has a list of rules to which it asks visitors to adhere - from cleaning up after your dog to alerting others when you're going to pass them.
