Pure natural beauty – from tumbling waterfalls to majestic mountain ranges – dots all corners of our state. You’ll also find spectacular rock formations hidden throughout the state, if you know where to look. When you stumble upon Beartown Rocks, for example, you’ll feel as though you’ve arrived at an otherworldly destination in Pennsylvania, one you can reach by a short walk or via a hiking trail.
Hidden in Clear Creek State Park, in Sigel, Beartown Rocks just might make you feel as though you've entered another world.
You can reach the massive rocks, some of which stand 20 feet tall, by parking at the parking lot just off of Corbett Road. You'll see a sign for Beartown Rocks that will alert you when to turn.
If you're up for a scenic hike, embark on the Beartown Rocks Trail. The trail is well-marked and well-traveled, so you don't have to worry about straying off the main path.
Wear comfortable hiking boots or shoes for your hike. Climbing the rocks is prohibited as severe injuries have occurred from those who tried to climb them in the past.
You'll definitely want to carve out enough time to explore the spectacular rock formations, which were created by glaciers more than 320 million years ago.
However, be forewarned that some hikers think this easy hike should be rated moderate, as the trail can be slippery. You might also find the path littered with fallen tree branches, so keep an eye out.
Set off for this otherworldly destination in Pennsylvania, where you’ll discover massive rock formations tucked in a forested area. Have you ever been to Beartown Rocks?
