Ever just want to escape into nature? To spend a few days among the deer and the birds, crossing over streams, and drinking in spellbinding natural beauty? Fortunately, we have a ton of amazing hikes to set off on throughout PA. The Allegheny Front Trail in Pennsylvania, however, just might be the most scenic, challenging hike if you’re up for a few days away from the noise of everyday life.
Pack all the gear you'll need for a successful hike along the 40-mile Allegheny Front Trail, a relatively new trail that features boardwalks and boasts an abundance of natural scenery.
However, the trail that winds through the Allegheny Plateau isn't for the faint of heart. It's rated the most difficult hiking by The Pennsylvania DCNR.
If you're up for the challenge of the trail, you will be well-rewarded with spectacular views of the Moshannon Creek, forested areas, and five mountain streams.
Before you set off, make sure you have a sturdy, comfortable pair of hiking boots or shoes. You'll be dealing with some rocky terrain that also could get slippery.
The trail features an abundance of wildlife — from deer and chipmunks to curious woodpeckers. You'll also find plenty of campsites along the way to hunker down for the night.
