A leisurely drive’s often a great way to relax and to escape from life’s stressors. Fortunately, we have no shortage of beautiful scenic byways and picturesque backroads that crisscross the state. The Greene County Covered Bridge Driving Tour in Pennsylvania, for example, promises 77 miles of beautiful scenery, highlighted by charming covered bridges.
Carve out between two and four hours for your journey along the Greene County Covered Bridge Driving Tour, created by the Greene County Tourist Promotion Agency.
Your journey begins at the Cox Farm Covered Bridge, which first opened during World War II. If you have the time, get out of your car, stretch your legs, and snap photos along your route.
The next two stops on the driving tour take you to Carmichaels Covered Bridge, an historic bridge that first opened in 1889, followed by White Covered Bridge. Built in 1919, White Covered Bridge earns props as the county’s longest covered bridge at 77 feet, six inches.
As you admire the rolling landscape as it passes by, you’ll next make your way to King Covered Bridge. Flanked by lush foliage, the covered bridge dates back to 1890 and offers a ton of photo-taking opportunities.
During your journey along the covered bridge tour, you’ll pass through several beautiful small towns, including Rogersville and Carmichaels. If you’re up for the adventure, plan to spend a whole day on the road exploring.
