Are you itching to get outside to enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings of the Beaver State? A staycation on Oregon’s Rogue River might be just what you need. Enjoy fresh air, sunshine, fishing…and a stay in a historic lodge that was once a haven for Hollywood’s rich and famous! Check out Weasku Inn:
Address: 5560 Rogue River Highway, Grants Pass, OR 97527
Weasku Inn was built in 1924, and its owners had hoped it would be a haven for anglers and outdoor enthusiasts. Its location along the Pacific Highway should have guaranteed its success, but the lodge didn't get many visitors.
In 1927, the owners sold the Weasku Inn to a local fishing guide named William Gibson, and it soon became a well-known retreat for Hollywood elites. Walt Disney, David Niven, and Bing Crosby were just a few of the celebrities who fell in love with this magical place.
Clark Gable was one of Weasku Inn's biggest fans. Over the years, he visited with three different wives, include the beautiful actress Carol Lombard. When she died, he visited Weasku to mourn her passing, staying for three weeks in one of the inn's rooms. Mr. Gable continued to visit Weasku Inn until 1960, when he died.

Today, overnight guests can still sleep in the lodge's room #4 where Clark Gable once stayed. Like all of the lodge's rooms, it's located on the top floor and offers vaulted ceilings and a queen-sized bed.
For even more privacy, stay in one of the lodge's cabins. There are 12 to choose from, including this adorable A-frame cabin on the river, which has been completely restored.
If you're looking for true luxury, you'll want to reserve the King Spa Suite River Cabin. It features a river-rock fireplace, huge windows, and luxurious linens on the king-sized bed.
You won't want to miss an opportunity to fish in the Rogue River. The little beach at the resort is situated right in front of one of the best fishing holes for salmon on the Rogue River!
It's hard to beat a stay at the historic Weasku Inn. Though you may not have even been alive while Clark Gable was around, once you spend a weekend here you'll understand why he loved this place so much.
