One of the best things about an Oregon summer is the fragrant flowers you’ll find all over the state. With all the wildflowers along hiking trails, and fields of flowers growing at farms, your summer can be a wonderland of vibrant color and sweet scents.
From Madras to Hood River, and Medford to Newburg, you’ll find more than a dozen lavender farms in the Beaver State, and now’s the time to visit. Many of the farms offer guests the opportunity to pick their own lavender, and Wayward Winds is one of the largest. Take a look:
Welcome to Wayward Winds Lavender Farm! This fragrant farm was founded in 2000, and it's absolutely beautiful.
Every July, Wayward Winds opens up its farm to the public. Stop by to wander the fields, try some tasty treats, and pick some lavender to take home. There's no admission fee to visit.
The lavender fields are tucked right into the rolling hills of Newberg, and the scenery here is absolutely fantastic. You'll want to bring your camera along to get some pretty pics while you're here.
If you're a professional photographer, the farm is a great place to bring clients for a photo shoot. There's a $35 venue fee, and you'll want to book your shoot in advance with the farm. If you're taking pics to enter the Oregon Lavender Association photo contest, there's no charge.
While you're here, pick some lavender to take home with you. The farm has all the supplies you need for picking. Grab a basket and some snips and head for the fields.
You'll soon have some aromatic bundles of purple beauty in your basket! The farm also offers craft classes occasionally. In July 2019, you'll want to sign up for the lavender wreath-making class on the 25th.
Wandering Winds produces essential oils, personal care products, and lavender-scented items of all kinds. Stop by to peruse the products, and take home some lavender gifts for loved ones, or yourself.
Visit Wayward Winds’ website to find out more about what’s going on at the farm, and follow its Facebook page to see more beautiful photos.
