Do you ever find yourself in Oregon but craving the cuisine of the beautiful island state of Hawaii? Hawaiian barbecue is special and oh so tasty! You can get some of the best BBQ in Oregon at Kona Cafe Hawaiian Barbecue & Catering in Springfield. Read on to learn more about this wonderful and unassuming local gem.
Kona Cafe Hawaiian Barbecue and Catering has been in business for more than 20 years. It's family-owned and operated, and it is one of the best places to get authentic Hawaiian barbecue in the state.
Most of the food here is cooked on the restaurant's Hawaiian Keawe Wood Pit Grill. Hawaiian barbecue is grilled over an open fire rather than smoked. That's what makes it unique and so great. You can taste the mesquite charcoal in every bite.
There are so many options at Kona. You can choose from barbecue, teriyaki, or volcano chicken, smoky salty Kalua pig, barbecue St. Louis-style ribs, or teriyaki tri-tip beef.
The St. Louis-style ribs served here are marinated for 48 hours in Kona's homemade Huli sauce and are then cooked for hours over loose Keawe wood. They practically fall right off the bone.
All plates come with your choice of two sides. Sides include steamed white rice, pineapple fried rice, potato-macaroni salad, wok friend noodles, raw shredded cabbage, Hawaiian chips, or a side salad.
Once you've made your choices, you can have a seat at a table in the comfortable and welcoming dining room. Takeout is also available, of course, and you might consider having Kona Barbecue cater your next party or event!
This place is super special. You might not even notice it when driving by. Perhaps you've driven by a bunch of times but never stopped in. Now is the time! You'll be glad that you did.
You’re going to love Kona Hawaiian Barbecue and Catering! This hidden gem in Springfield is worth the trip from anywhere. Stop on in soon and bring your appetite!
