On a hot, summer day nothing is more fun than cooling off in one of Oregon’s swimming holes. There’s one spot near Eugene that has a natural water slide, and it’s surrounded by beautiful scenery. Take a look:
When the thermometer rises this summer, jump in the car and head to Triangle Lake to find one of Oregon's most incredible natural water parks.
This gorgeous swimming hole is easy to find along the Mapleton-Junction City Highway that skirts Triangle Lake. From the southern tip of the lake, the highway takes you right to a small parking lot. Cross the street, descend the stairs, and get ready for some summer fun!
The natural rock slide is a large tabletop rock in Lake Creek. Water skims along its surface, then falls off the edge into a little waterfall that dumps right into the swimming hole.
The water in this little creek is actually pretty warm, especially on hot, summer days. Bring your towel, some sunscreen, and some water toys and spend the afternoon.
You can cruise down the rock slide however you'd like: on an inner tube, or on your bottom. The surface can be a little rough, so don't wear your favorite swimsuit here; it will definitely get some wear and tear in the seat!
The rock slide and its swimming hole are a blast, but use caution. This natural space doesn't have a lifeguard, and depending on the time of year, the water can be fast and deep. Use your good judgment to determine whether this spot is safe for your family.
This beautiful place is the perfect spot to make some great summer memories, but please make sure to be a good steward and remove all the trash you bring in. Let's keep this water slide pristine and beautiful for generations to come!
