I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
Each spring, the Columbia River Gorge comes alive with color, boasting some of the most vibrant and vivid wildflowers in Oregon. While there are numerous places to enjoy this spectacular spring show, the Rowena Plateau is our favorite for its accessibility and unrivaled views. If you’ve ever wanted to have a real-life Sound of Music moment, this is the place where you can do just that.
Winter in the PNW can be a dreary season, full of gray skies and rainy days. But we don't mind, because we know that, come springtime, Mother Nature will put on quite a show.
The Rowena Plateau is a stunning viewpoint and trailhead along the Columbia River Highway, offering jaw-dropping views of the Crown Jewel of the Pacific Northwest, the incredible Columbia River Gorge.
Accessing this overlook is an enchanting adventure, too. This two-mile loop trail is an easy and straightforward route where the journey is truly as beautiful as the destination. Because it's so accessible, the trail can be a bit crowded in the springtime, so head out early in the day if you want to avoid a ton of foot traffic.
These inspiring views are worth waking up early for, however. If you're looking for a way to immerse yourself in the splendor of spring in Oregon, this is it!
There are so many ways to welcome spring in Oregon — once you’ve admired the wildflowers at Rowena Plateau, be sure to head out on one of these scenic hikes!
