When it’s fresh seafood you’re craving, Oregon is the place to be. But some seafood here is even fresher than others – there’s a restaurant on the coast where you can watch the oysters being shucked!
Pacific Oyster Company is located in Bay City, and its restaurant, The Fish Peddler, offers some of the freshest oysters you'll ever find. The oyster processing operations and restaurant are located at 5150 Hayes Oyster Dr., Bay City, OR 97107.
These folks shuck a lot of oysters. Check out the huge pile of oyster shells outside the facility!
You can see workers shucking oysters right on site. They're still shucked the old-fashioned way - by hand.
The oysters go through a triple-washing process and are sorted by size and quality before being packaged for retail sale.
You can buy fresh oysters and fish to take home or enjoy a tasty meal at the Fish Peddler Restaurant on site.
It goes without saying that the oysters here are about as fresh as you'll ever find. Get a half dozen or dozen oysters on the half shell, or try a dozen fried oysters.
If you love fresh oysters, you'll want some oyster shooters.
If you prefer your oysters baked, you might want to try Oyster Kilchis, with parmesan, pesto, and hot sauce. Or perhaps Oyster Tillamook with bacon, red onion, and shredded Tillamook sharp cheddar is more to your liking. There are five different baked oyster dishes to choose from!
The oyster stew is rich and creamy. Get it with double oysters for just $2 more.
As you can imagine, the cioppino is delicious, too.
The Fish Peddler also offers an array of seafood, including clam chowder, halibut fish & chips, Dungeness crab and bay shrimp cakes, and fish tacos.
Enjoy fresh oysters and seafood at The Fish Peddler Friday through Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; the restaurant is closed on Wednesday and Thursday.
