In the late 1940s and early 1950s, Americans on the mainland were obsessed with the idea of traveling to tropical paradises. Tiki-themed restaurants, bars, and lounges were popular all over the country, but most closed down a decade or two later. There’s still an amazing, retro tiki lounge here in Oregon, and you’re going to want to pay it a visit. Check out The Alibi Tiki Lounge:
The Alibi Tiki Lounge opened in 1947 and was a popular spot for an evening of dinner and dancing.
Order up one of the punch bowls for a special treat to share. The Scorpion Bowl includes three kinds of rum, gin, brandy, orange, lime, sugar, and orgeat. It's served with several long straws for ease of drinking, and a lit candle for ambiance.
For lunch, dinner, or a snack, you'll find a menu packed with tasty island food. Enjoy an appetizer of Polynesian meatballs, or tuck into an Aloha Plate with Shoyu chicken and Kalua pork.
