There are so many great dining spots around the Beaver State that we could feature a new restaurant every week and never run out of recommendations. Of course, do have a few favorites. These places are just a few of the tried-and-true dining venues that we go back to again and again. They’re the restaurants we always recommend to out-of-town guests, and they run the gamut from casual spots to historic icons. Without further ado, here are nine restaurants in Oregon for your bucket list:
It makes a certain amount of sense to get your fish from a gillnet boat, doesn't it? This little boat is a walk-up restaurant that specializes in just one thing - fish 'n chips - and it does it so, so well. Bowpicker Fish & Chips is a longtime Oregon favorite for a reason!
Cowboy Dinner Tree was once a spot along the cattle trail where hungry cattlemen stopped to dine. Today, it's a family-style restaurant that serves some of the best biscuits, beans, chicken, and steak you'll ever try. The restaurant has just two entrees on the menu, but they're both delicious!
Dan & Louis Oyster Bar has been around since 1907, and it's still run by members of the same family. In fact, it's the oldest family-owned restaurant in Portland! The seafood dishes are all excellent, but of course the specialty is oysters.
The Horn Public House & Brewery in Depoe Bay has delicious chowder, sandwiches, and pizza, but its view is just as good as the food. It's perched on a cliff overlooking the world's smallest navigable harbor in Depoe Bay.
Huber's opened its doors way back in 1879, and it's one of Oregon's oldest restaurants. When it opened up as a saloon back then, it offered a free turkey sandwich with every drink purchased. As you can imagine, a LOT of turkey sandwiches were consumed. Nowadays, you'll pay for your sandwich, but it's well worth it! We wax poetic about Huber's in this article.
6. Junkyard Extreme Burgers & Brats, Junction City
This quirky burger joint in Junction City has some of the most unique landscaping you've ever seen, and the inside of the restaurant is just as kitschy! The burgers on the menu at Junkyard Extreme Burgers & Brats are thick, juicy, and covered in tasty toppings!
Multnomah Falls Lodge is one of Oregon's most iconic pieces of history. Built in 1925, it boasts a floor-to-ceiling fireplace, a room that's made up completely of windows (including the ceiling), and a patio that lets you view the waterfall while you dine.
Screen Door in Portland, Oregon, gets a lot of hype. Is it really that good? Yes. Yes, it really is. Its mac 'n cheese was recently named "Best in State," and its fried chicken is to die for!
This eclectic dining spot in Salem is well-known for its breakfast and brunch offerings, and the ingredients here are all top notch. The signature item on the menu is the Incredible Flying Biscuit, and it includes thick-cut bacon, buttermilk fried chicken, a fried egg, cheese, and creamy sausage gravy. Yum! You'll be happy to dine at Word of Mouth Neighborhood Bistro, one of the best restaurants in Oregon.
This is just a small sampling of some of Oregon’s best restaurants. What other places would you add to this list of bucket-list-worthy restaurants in Oregon? Tell us in the comments!
