Take A Spectacular, Informative, Free Snowshoeing Tour On Oregon's Mt. Bachelor
Whatever the weather, we Oregonians love the outdoors — rain, shine, or snow, but especially snow! Lucky for us, Oregon offers a wealth of wonderful winter activities from skiing and snowboarding to sledding. But if you’re looking for a unique educational winter activity this season, why not try snowshoeing?
We’ve got the perfect place to try out this fun sport. U.S. Forest Service Naturalists lead participants on free 90-minute interpretive tours on Mt. Bachelor. These fun, informative excursions run mid-December through late March on weekends and school breaks.
And don’t worry if you’ve never been snowshoeing. It’s fairly straightforward — if you can walk in snow, you can snowshoe. In fact, it might even be easier as the snowshoes enhance traction and balance. Even better, free snowshoes are available for use during the tour. All you need to do is sign up online, show up dressed for the weather (snow boots, gloves, and hats are recommended), and be ready to learn while snowshoeing with a forest ranger!
For more information about this free snowshoeing tour, visit the Mt. Bachelor website. If your visit to the mountain includes a drive, you may want to stock up on car-friendly snacks and/or bring or buy a lunch to enjoy at the lodge.
We’d love to know how you enjoyed this snowshoeing adventure, so please leave a comment to let us know about your experience. Also, feel free to share your favorite winter activities in Oregon that we should try next.
