Do you ever feel like just getting away from civilization for awhile? It’s almost impossible to find a place where there are no people around, but there’s one resort right here in Oregon that’s fairly inaccessible during winter months, so it’s never crowded. Hop on a snowmobile or snowcat to get to Elk Lake Resort, and experience a unique winter vacation.
Get away from it all at Elk Lake Resort. It's just 25 miles outside of Bend, but it feels like the middle of nowhere, especially during the winter.
Elk Lake Lodge encourages guests to park at the park-n-ride in Bend and hop on the Mt. Bachelor ski bus. They'll pick you up at the Mt. Bachelor parking lot and take you to the resort from there.

The resort offers 13 cozy cabins to rent year-round. The resort has been around since 1924, and some of the cabins are vintage; others are more modern.
Fat tire bikes are another great way to get out and explore the snowy trails. These bikes have bigger tires that float right over powder and provide more traction than regular mountain bikes. You can rent one from the resort for as little as $35.
The Lodge Bar & Restaurant is the perfect gathering place after a long day of exploring in the snow. Enjoy a drink at the bar, or tuck into a tasty meal. It's open Thursday through Sunday in the winter.
