All aboard! This adventure begins with a ride on a historic train. The Sumpter Valley Railroad travels from Sumpter Depot in Baker City to McEwan and back again.
This historic railroad exists thanks to volunteer efforts by local folks that started back in 1971. After many years of hard work and fundraising, those volunteers re-opened the narrow-gauge railway on original track in 1976.
The train car you'll ride is is also historical and renovated. Sumpter Valley Railway has rescued and restored dozens of train cars including passenger cars, refrigerator cars, boxcars, flatcars, cabooses, and more.
After your train ride is complete, you'll need to drive two hours to Joseph to reach your very unique Airbnb . The drive is long but beautiful, and worth it. You'll be sleeping inside a converted caboose!
The main house on the property - where your hosts live - is a historical train depot building. It was built in 1906 and was moved to this location in 1980.
