Congratulations, Oregon! We’ve been ranked as the sixth best state for driving in the nation. According to a new study from Wallet Hub, the Beaver State has some of the safest and well-maintained roads in the country.

Oregon has scored high on Wallet Hub's new driving study, which compared all 50 states across 23 key indicators of a positive commute.

Top indicators included traffic and infrastructure, safety, and access to vehicles and maintenance.
The Beaver State came in sixth place overall with a total score of 60.86, while Texas took home the top spot with 63.68.

Other states that ranked highly included Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and North Carolina. Hawaii was ranked worst overall, with Washington coming in 49th place.

In what may come as a surprise to some Oregon drivers, our state was ranked 17th in traffic and congestion.

Apparently rush-hour traffic was not as bad here as in some other states.
Oregon also scored high on safety, thanks to our strict seat belt laws as well as cell phone use restrictions.

All in all, this survey found Oregon roads to be some of the best in the entire country.
