The Oregon Coast is home to numerous beaches that are well-known for their stunning features, unique beauty, and stunning shorelines. Cannon Beach, Lincoln City Beach, Oswald State Park — these are incredibly popular beaches that are PNW icons. But there’s more to the Oregon Coast than a few big-name beaches, as its 363 miles of shoreline is home to some true hidden gems. Rockaway Beach is one such Oregon treasure.
Folks have been coming to Rockaway Beach since the early 1900s, when it was established as a coastal resort town.
Back then, trains brought vacationers to this beautiful Oregon beach town. On Friday afternoons, the "Daddy Train" would bring fathers out to meet their families for a weekend getaway.
Despite being a "resort beach," nothing feels crowded or commercial here. This is in part due to Rockaway's size; at seven miles long, there's lots of room to spread out and explore.

This expansive beach is marked by a pair of striking black rock formations, known as the Twin Rocks. These rocks anchor the coastal town, acting as a center from which everything stems.
A people's beach through and through, you'll find all sorts of events happening at Rockaway Beach. The annual Kite & Art Fest is definitely a fan favorite, and it's delightful to see the skies full of winsome, colorful kites.
In fact, with Rockaway's steady winds and expansive shoreline, outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy all sorts of adventures at this beach. The wind surfing here is particularly stellar!
An abundance of tide pools makes for amazing beach combing at Rockaway, too. Sand dollars, unique shells, and even fossils frequently wash ashore at this beach.
