I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
Here in Oregon, we like to keep it weird, and indeed, there are many things we do that seem a bit, well, odd to the rest of the country. (That’s on them — we totally get each other.) Here are 16 habits and quirks that make Oregonians stand apart from the rest… in the very best possible way!
1. We think everything's better with cheddar... Tillamook cheddar, that is.
People in other places might called them "fried dough" or "scones," but they're wrong. These delicacies are "elephant ears," and they're best-served with heaps of cinnamon and sugar.
Most Oregonians have been foraging in the forest. Mushrooms, marionberries... the forest is our sanctuary, and we like to be as close to it as possible.
We know that Oregon is wondrous, but all too often, we take our state for granted. Oregon is incredible, Oregonians are awesome, and those are just facts.
People from Oregon sure are a unique bunch — some of the best people in the country! What other quirks about Oregonians have you observed? What habits would you add to the list? Share those in the comments below!
