In business since 1946, this classic steakhouse in NE Portland is a neighborhood gem that serves up some of the best steaks around. Home to the 72-ounce Steak Challenge since 1948, business has boomed at this rustic family-owned steakhouse.
Just years after Sayler's opened its doors, thriving business forced the restaurant to accommodate and move into its current location at 105th Avenue and SE Stark Street.
From its original 60-seat restaurant to its current 300-seat one, this local restaurant has seen immense growth in its more than 70-year run.
The original Sayler's burnt to the ground in 1978 but was rebuilt by the following year, and business has thrived since.
At the time, there would be lines around the building waiting to get a taste of their amazing steaks.
If you are going out for a steak in Portland, this is one place that should be high on your list.
If you dare, take the 72-ounce Steak Challenge: eat the whole thing in under an hour (along with some sides and without leaving the table) and your meal is free!
Whether you want the best of both worlds with a porterhouse steak...
...or a t-bone, you won't be disappointed with the selections here.
On the off chance that you go to the steakhouse and just don't feel like steak, Sayler's chicken is great as well.
They have been serving classic fried chicken since opening their doors in 1946.
Sayler's has a delicious appetizer and happy hour menu if you want to just enjoy some small bites over drinks.
But all meals come with the Full Meal Deal, a staple at the restaurant since it opened.
This means that each meal comes with a relish tray, salad, bread, entree, side dishes, and to finish, a scoop of ice cream.
If you want something lighter, a lobster tail is a mouth-watering solution.
Or add one alongside your steak for an even more decadent meal.
Wherever your carnivore dreams lead you, this classic restaurant should be the first stop on your trip.
Sayler’s Old Country Kitchen is located at 10519 SE Stark Street.
