Portland has changed considerably in the last 40 years with growing infrastructure, a changing skyline, and suburban sprawl. Follow the journey of our beautiful city through the 1970s in these classic photos from around town and see if you remember any of these sights.
1. The Portland International Raceway was going strong in the 70s, but things looked a little different back then.
2. One of the city's first underground gay bars, Dinty Moore's operated throughout the 1960s and 1970s.
3. This picture of Portland youth was taken at Iris Court in North Portland in 1970.
4. In an effort to prevent anti-war protests during an American Legion meeting in the city, the rock concert Vortex I was put on at McIver park, which drew a considerable crowd.
5. This small ice cream stand, Boyce's Ice Cream, sat on the NE Killingsworth from 1950 through the 70s.
