If you love pizza, the best week of the year is right around the corner. Portland’s Pizza Week will run April 15th through the 20th, and you are not going to want to miss this one!
Editor’s Note: This is an annual event and while this article reflects the 2019 happenings, you can visit the website for information on upcoming Portland Mercury’s Pizza Week events.
Portland Mercury's Pizza Week is upon us! If you love pizza, you'll definitely want to participate. Pizza Week runs April 15th through the 20th, which means six glorious days of tasty pizza slices for just $2.
More than 40 pizzerias all across the city are participating, and each has a special slice that they'll offer up for just two bucks.
You'll have a chance to try some unique creations that you may have always wanted to try, but didn't dare order an entire pizza, like this slice of Dot's Burger Pizza from Atlas Pizza's Foster location. Yep, those are pickles right there!
Baby Doll Pizza keeps things a little more traditional, with slices of its Over Acheeser pizza on offering. Mozzarella, provolone, and Gouda cheeses grace this slice, along with mushrooms, roasted red peppers, garlic, and rosemary.
Handsome Pizza will serve you up a slice of its Mac 'n Cheese, which is self-explanatory.
If you love your pizza spicy, with a unique flair, head to Picasso Pizza Co. for a slice of the Kung Pow Wow. It's a fusion of Kung Pao chicken and pizza that will set your mouth on fire. These are just four of the specialty slices offered in participating pizzerias this coming week - there are dozens more!
This popular event draws crowds. You might have a bit of a wait at some of the pizza places, and some pizzerias may sell out of their $2 slice. Smart Pizza Week patrons know that they can hop from pizzeria to pizzeria to skip crowds, then visit the original spot on a different day or time.
Don't forget the side dishes at these places. You'll find tasty garlic knots, salads, wings, and other delicious accompaniments everywhere you visit. Since you're saving so much on the pizza, you can afford to try the other menu items while you're there.
Pizza just isn't the same without some beer, so you could turn Pizza Week into Pizza and Beer Week and try a different beer with every $2 slice. Just an idea...
Don't forget to tip! The pizza makers, servers, and other staff at these pizza restaurants are all working hard to make this event fabulous for everyone. Make sure you show them a little love, too.
Each pizzeria has different hours and offerings. While they all offer $2 slices, some have a limit on how many slices each person can order. Many of the pizzerias are also offering full pizzas at special prices.
