One of the most incredible hidden gems in Oregon is tucked away in the Columbia River Gorge. This amazing 1-mile hike will lead you through a breathtaking moss-covered canyon all the way to a majestic, secluded Oneonta Falls.

The Oneonta Gorge Hike will take you on an epic, unforgettable adventure. You’ll walk along a creek, scramble over fallen logs, and wade through a crystal clear stream before reaching the gorgeous waterfall at the end. All along the way, the mossy green scenery is absolutely jaw-dropping.

Instead of a trail, you'll follow the beautiful Oneonta Creek through the canyon.

Stepping inside the gorge is like entering a fantasy world. Right away you'll be dazzled by the enormous rock walls covered in emerald green moss and the cool, clear stream running through it.

Be sure to wear shoes with good traction, as you'll be climbing over a large log jam which can be dangerous.

Near the end of the hike, the trail will disappear and you'll have to wade through the stream to reach the beautiful surprise waiting on the other side. The water is very cold and can vary in depth depending on the time of year. It may be a good idea to bring an extra pair of clothes and a towel.

At the end of the gorge you'll arrive at the stunning Oneonta Falls. This beautiful waterfall cascades nearly 100 feet into a crystal-clear basin where you can swim or simply bask in the natural beauty of this amazing place.

To get to the entrance of the gorge, take exit 28 on the 1-84 and follow the Historic Highway a little more than 5 miles to the trailhead, where you’ll find a small parking lot.
