I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
Nothing beats the outdoor recreation scene in Oregon. Not only is the Beaver State one big playground for outdoor enthusiasts, but Oregon is also a literal playground for kids. Oregon is home to some of the coolest, most unique parks and playgrounds in the country, and Newell Creek Canyon Nature Park is the state’s newest addition. A place of immense scenic splendor, this brand-new park is as beautiful as it is accessible, and will remind you just how special Oregon truly is.
Oregon's newest park is a total stunner: Newell Creek Canyon Nature Park is a 236-acre oasis located in Oregon City.
This brand-new park features 2.5 miles of hiking trails and two miles of dedicated biking paths, making it the perfect place for nature lovers of all interests, ages, and abilities.
Of course, the facilities at this new park are also worth noting. At the park entrance, you'll find a kiosk with a large map, plus a brand-new, clean restroom, which is a much-appreciated luxury not all parks have.
When you're ready for a hike, you'll be pleased to find that the trails within Newell Creek are incredibly accessible, and wind through some seriously stunning old-growth forest. While exploring this preserve, keep an eye out for beavers, red fox and black-tailed deer, along with pileated woodpeckers and cottontail rabbits!
As you stroll through the preserve's mossy forest full of bigleaf maples and giant western redcedars, you're sure to be positively dazzled. There's nothing that quite compares to standing in the shadows of real-life giants!
