While we’re committed to staying home and staying safe during the COVID-19 epidemic, we sure do miss going to the movies. Our local movie theaters miss us, too! They’re all trying to find ways to stay afloat while they’re closed to the public. We recently heard about three theaters in Oregon that have found a unique way to connect with the community and make a little bit of cash, too. Check it out:
Do you miss going to the movies as much as we do? Whether we're watching a big blockbuster or an indie film, we love settling in with an armful of candy, popcorn, and sodas to relax and enjoy.
Now that we're all staying at home, we're tuning in to stream our favorite old classics and new releases, and we're popping popcorn with the air popper...but it's just not the same as the popcorn you get at the movie theater.
Homemade popcorn just doesn't have that movie theater taste! Luckily, we found three movie theaters across the state that are offering their popcorn for sale on the weekends!
At the Columbia Theatre in St. Helens, you'll line up in your car to get a mystery movie poster and bucket of popcorn for just $20. They'll bring it right out to you every Friday night from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
And, you can also order a "bucket for a friend" for an additional $5. It comes with a little card you can fill out. Then, put it on your friend's porch, ring the doorbell, and run! They'll love a tasty surprise treat.
Connect with all three of these movie theaters on their Facebook pages. Visit Cameo Theatre here, follow Columbia Theatre here, and keep tabs on the latest at Joy Cinema here.
Do you know of other movie theaters that are doing something like this? Tell our readers about them in the comments!
