Oregon is one of my favorite getaway destinations. I love all of the small towns like Oceanside, Astoria, and Coos Bay. However, many of these small towns are located right along the coast and tend to draw in quite a crowd. That’s why you need to get away to Powers, Oregon, a remote destination that’s the perfect place to escape reality and disconnect. You may have to go out of your way to reach this town but once you spend time here, you’ll be glad you did.
Powers is a small town in Coos County with just over 700 residents. It is located right along Oregon Route 542.
And while there may not be too many businesses and shops to visit, Powers is known as the gateway to outdoor adventures. It's located in a valley that’s surrounded by hills and it sits on the South Fork of the Coquille River.

During your visit, lace up your hiking boots and check out the Panther Ridge Trail near town. This trail takes you to Hanging Rock, where you will have the most breathtaking views of the valley below.
The entire family will love the Coquille River Falls Trail, which is an easy 0.5-mile hike that takes you through groves of trees and ends at the stunning Coquille River Falls.
Take the time to check out Coquille Myrtle Grove State Natural Site, located right along the Powers Highway. This is a beautiful place to spend a sunny day with a river, sandy beach, and thick trees.
And if you don’t want to go too far but still want to spend some time outside, head to Powers County Park. Located within city limits, this park features a large campground, park walkway, 30-acre man-made lake, and much more.
