I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
Here at Only In Oregon, we have a major weakness for charming, old covered bridges. And there’s one in Lowell, Oregon, that’s practically perfect. Nestled in the Willamette Valley of western Oregon, the Lowell Covered Bridge is one of many in the area, but it stands out for several reasons. In addition to being the widest covered bridge in Oregon and serving as an interpretive center for the region’s many historic bridges, it’s also arguably the most beautiful covered bridge in the state, and absolutely worth venturing out to explore.
Tucked away in the wondrous Willamette Valley region in western Oregon, you'll find the Lowell Covered Bridge.
This area near Lowell, Oregon, is home to several charming covered bridges -- the Pengra, Parvin, Unity, and Cannon Street covered bridges are all within a 10-mile radius -- and the Lowell Covered Bridge serves as the interpretative center for the region.
The covered bridge you'll explore in Lowell isn't the original, however. The original was built in 1907 and replaced in 1945 following a truck accident that compromised the bridge's foundation. In 1979, the Lowell Covered Bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
One of the most beautiful covered bridges in Oregon, during the holidays, the Lowell Covered Bridge is decked out in red and green lights, making for a completely dazzling, must-visit display.
